Committed to Protecting the Best Interest of Children
Why do we exist? Because children are being hurt by the misuse of the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA). Children are being ripped from loving families and permanent homes. Nothing trumps a child's right to happiness, health and safety. Birth families, adoptive families, foster care families and children around the country are being hurt by the misuse or misapplication of this law, a federal law originally established to protect the heritage of Native Americans. While we fully respect Native American culture, we cannot sit by silently and hear the harsh realities about how this law is being used. Together, as a diverse group of concerned organizations and citizens, we are the voice of the children and families being hurt by ICWA.
The deadline for our comments regarding the Indian Child Welfare Act is May 19, 2015!
Time is of the essence. Act today! Stand up for children and birth parents now! Your voice matters!
Public hearings are being held by the BIA. Information is below. Please RSVP for the Portland and Albuquerque meetings to firstname.lastname@example.org, bring photo ID and arrive early to allow time to get through security, as these are Federal buildings. No RSVP is necessary for the other locations.
